PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) is a protocol used by
some broadband ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to establish a logical
connection with LAN connected clients. It relies on two widely accepted
standards, namely Ethernet and the point-to-point protocol (PPP).
The InJoy PPPoE Plugin provides the InJoy Firewall with PPPoE support, thereby allowing the InJoy Firewall to work with a number of the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) which require PPPoE support in order to operate.
Features Summary:
- Compatibility tested with a great variety of ISPs.
- Installed seamlessly as part of the InJoy Firewall.
- Link quality monitoring and automatic re-connects.
- Start external script at connect or disconnect ("pppoe_c.cmd" and "pppoe_d.cmd" respectively). On Linux and other *nix variants replace the ".cmd" extension with ".sh".
- Supports multiple ISP profiles and easy-to-use GUI support.
- Comprehensive connection control: Connect at Startup, Connect on Demand, Connect Manually, Idle Disconnect, Manual Disconnect, Session Timeout Disconnect, Connection Loss Detection, Auto Re-connects.
- Diagnostics and PPPoE negotiation tracing.
Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
Using the Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), you can dial the
Internet service providers that rely on this protocol, or use the PPTP
tunneling to connect to the corporate network via the Internet.
PPTP support in the InJoy Firewall is primarily included to provide connectivity to the still limited number of ISPs that rely on this feature for basic connectivity. For the same reason, the InJoy PPTP plugin does not support encryption and GUI configuration.
Features Summary:
- Compatibility tested with a great variety of ISPs.
- Specifically tested for Windows 2000 server compatibility.
- Installed seamlessly with the InJoy Firewall.
- Supports multiple ISP profiles.
- Manual or Automatic connection control.
- Diagnostics and PPTP Negotiation tracing.
