Press Release

Backbone Security licenses F/X's IPSec VPN and NDIS Packet Intercepting firewall developer toolkits for the Windows platform.

Holbaek, February 25, 2003 - F/X Comunications today announced that Backbone Security successfully implemented F/X Communications' comprehensive IPSec VPN and NDIS Packet Intercepting enabling technology in their Ripcage VPN Security System.

Backbone Security is a full-service network security company, providing services that meet a customer's requirements for complete protection. Their award-winning VPN solution, Ribcage, is a part of the end-to-end security that Backbone Security has been using to defeat hackers around the world.

"When Backbone Security set out to develop a VPN client, we looked for a company that would provide an IPSEC toolkit that would enable us to quickly develop our software with a robust feature-set at a low cost. F/X Communications provided us with a framework that allowed us to shorten our development time; Instead of spending months on research and testing, we had a basic client ready in just a few days. Their top-notch engineers were able to add custom features to the toolkit, delivering results within a short development time. To top everything off, their tech support has consistently been right on top of all questions with quick, accurate answers and has left us with the feeling of an all-around positive experience.", said Marc Kurtz, Lead Engineer, Backbone Security's Ribcage product line.

Successful IPSec VPN deployment in government agencies require fault-tolerant operation, strong authentication and the highest levels of data encryption. F/X's IPSec Developer toolkit offers advanced features, such as NAT Traversal, Extended Authentication, RSA Signatures and AES encryption. With NAT Traversal, organizations no longer face problems when mixing NAT environments with VPN capability and using the high performance Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), existing 3DES-based VPNs are out-performed by factor 3. In October 2000, the U.S government adopted the AES algorithm as its encryption technique, out of a group of five algorithms under consideration.

By adding F/X's programmable IPSec VPN enabling technology to existing products, network solution providers can enjoy unique levels of flexibility and standards-based operation. In addition, the high performance design, the multi-platform support and the extensive interoperability testing enable rapid time to market and continued revenue assurance for our customers. Backbone's short implementation period is further evidence of the solution's delivery on the rapid time to market promise.
